Why does denim curl up at the bottom or want to fold right at the hem after being washed and dried? Is there any way to correct this permanently?
It's you and me and all of the people,
and I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you.
My father was ridiculing my fixation on getting rid of acne scars (yes, I'm also the girl who posted about my friends mocking me too; I'm pretty much surrounded by people who dismiss anyone with an interest in beauty/fashion as automatically stupid and shallow), and it got me thinking about how my family, in particular my mother, has influenced my ideas and thoughts about beauty and my own current beauty habits.
So I'm interested to know, how have the people around you influenced your ideas of beauty and your personal beauty habits?

I just ordered the new fall Face Fashion set from Bare Escentuals and it arrived today, so I had to try it out! Some of the eye colors are a little harder to work with, harder to blend so it didn't turn out quite as I envisioned. It doesn't help that I am a little rusty at the moment!
The blush (Vintage Peach) and the lipgloss (Jessica Buxom) in the kit are to die for, the photos don't do them any justice. I think the blush is close to MAC's mineralize blush, Dainty, but with more shimmer. The gloss is a light copper color with a pink sheen, so pretty! It makes me think of MAC Pink Bronze pigment in lipgloss form. If you aren't familiar with BE Buxoms, I think they are the best thing ever. They are lip plumpers and they make your lips feel SO cold and tingly.

Hey bbs, just a reminder to please use your username tag when you post a fotd!
i've had my hair bleached blond since last december, so as you can imagine, it's pretty damaged. i just went to a new hair dresser last week (eeks!) because i was too lazy to cross the bay. so... my normal hair dresser would use a mild volume bleach as to damage my hair less but would take 8 hours to bleach. my new hair dresser used a pretty high volume bleach (done in like an hour or so?). so my hair suddenly died.
i have fine, straight hair, except due to this last bleaching process, by hair has turned to "wire." it feels likes hay, and has way too much "poof" or volume. i also had my hair cut to my shoulder (A-line). so with the added volume, my hair looks like a triangle.
i can flat iron my hair, and then it'll stop the triangle effect, but i am way too lazy for that.
so, do you ladies have any ideas on how to fix my hair temporarily while i try to condition my hair back to normal?

I'm new so I figured I'd say hi. =]
I used to do my makeup all the time, but got lazy and stopped for about 2 years. But I'm getting back into it, though I'm a little rusty.
Let me know what you guys think...

U.S. supplier of mosquito vaporizer refills?

Darned mosquitoes! My face has spots from their stings.
My dear friend purchased me something to repel mosquitoes that looks like this from Japan.
Since she is not going back to Japan, she can't provide me with refills for this anymore.
Is there any place in the United States, or at least North America where I can order the liquid vaporizer refills?

I haven't posted in a while so I figured I'd update - though it's nothing special. Two 'eh' looks and my new hair color - as well as a puppy, nail colors, and pretty bangles! (Cross-posted)

I was asked to do a back to school look for my friend Kelsey!!! This is a pretty simple look consisting of peach cheeks, a nude lip and a bronze/brown eye.
I tried to make this time conscious because I know when girls are heading off to school we may not have a lot of time. This look can probably be done in 5 minutes and I will add some product recommendations.

finally, after about a three week wait, i recieved my fyrinnae samples today!
so, if any of you need to have your makeup fix ASAP, i wouldn't reccomend fyrinnae. it takes them so long to ship because they have to make each of your samples, and think about how hectic that can be with the amount of orders they recieve each day. personally, i think that it was definitely worth the wait.
i ordered 6 1/4 tsp pigment samples, and the jars are all mostly filled to the brim, so they are more than generous with their samples.
without any further a due, here are the swatches!

I know this has been posted a gazillion times, but now I can't seem to find it.
Today I bought my first set of brushes (the Essence of Beauty Face travel kit from CVS) and I'm pretty excited to do my makeup tomorrow. I think I want to try using eyeshadow wet instead of dry, but how do I do it? Can I just dip the brush in some water and go from there or is there another way?
Also, what's the best way to clean/care for brushes? I was thinking I would just wash them with soap and water, but is there something better I could or should be doing?
Thanks!

I straighten my hair on some mornings, and by mid-afternoon, it reverses back to my wavy hair. The humidity isn't helping any either *sigh*
I have thick, Indian hair and use the MaxiGlide straightener.
What products used before or after make your hair stay straight and flat, even through crazy humidity? As of now, I'm using a heat protectant spray before I straighten but I'm at a loss when it comes to post-straightening styling products since I'm baffled by all the reviews and varieties.
If all else fails, I'm considering switching to a CHI or GHD.
Thanks ladies!

There's a look on the homepage of Make Up For Ever ( www.makeupforever.com ), that I REALLY love and want to try to immitate. But, it's in flash, rotating with another look (the one I want has the dark lips).
Anyone know how I can save that picture, or, maybe you have a similar one floating about in your inspriation stashes? I'm just madly in love with that damn picture! ^_^

also just curious if anyone actually has the nine west Heech, and what they think of them :)
lastly- any good labor day sales?
thanks!

Hey! I've heard ya'll talk alot about different cosmetic companies you like (MAC, UD, Ben Nye, Kryolan, etc) and I was wondering about Fyrinnae. Has anyone ever ordered from their website? (www.Fyrinnae.com ) Did they ship right away? How was the product? How is the color payoff? Is it similar to MAC or UD? I had never heard of this co. before joining this group and I may order some of their eyeshadows because they can send them to you cheaper in sample jars, which I find awesome. And so this isn't a text only post:
I used Mary Kay foundation, MK mineral foundation on top to set it, Too Faced eyeliner, Cover girl mascara, and I had on a bronze lipgloss from MK, but I was at work and had eaten it off by then.

Another boring day, so I play with da colors :D
So here's the deal, I have been absolutely DROOLING over everyone's pictures because the colors you use are so amazingly brilliant and bold! I'm obviously not using the right stuff (I use Mary Kay, which have very natural-looking, muted shades, and it's a really good product line, but not the right thing for what I'm trying for). SO, what would you all recommend for some bright, powerful, lasting colors?? I've seen that quite a few gajillion people are fans of MAC, but what you suggest?? Thanks in advance!!

I bring you FOTDs! Plus I'd like some product recommendations - any at all! Makeup, skin care, hair care etc. I plan on spending last months wages entirely on beauty stuff (plus a chainmaille bag and brush belt for college) since I did well in my exams and I just darn well want to for once haha. So what beauty goods could you not live without? Which do you want to pass on to me?

i did this neutral one just for fun yesterday, since i was bored out of my skull trying to study for wednesday's exam x_x

sing me songs that echo in my head and in my heart: I Want You- Savage Garden
Hello everyone! After looking around this community for a month, I finally decided to join it last night. I've been experimenting with eyeshadow REALLY this past year (it was my first year at college, so I thought it would be a good place to find a new look.) I started wearing make up when I was 17, and it was just a simple face, 1 or 2 shadows, a little liner, mascara, and gloss. Now it's a whole 10-20 minute process with products everywhere when I get ready. lol. I love doing looks that are glittery, but still subtle. I like experimenting with combining colors and liners, but nothing too crazy and over the top. The 2 looks I posted are ones that I do very frequently simply because I have a small collection and not many options for mixing and matching as of now. My photos are going to be a bit large because I didn't feel like resizing them. Enjoy!

A quick question for you beauts;
Is it possible to exchange a MAC product (particularly foundation) purchased from within the US in a Canadian department store counter?
The NC44 SFF is no longer my shade and I currently have nothing to mix it with. I wasn't there at the time of the purchase and I feel bad for barely using it. I don't want it to go to waste, so what can I do? School's starting and I don't really want to live in turtlenecks in attempt to hide the difference in color!
Thanks a bunch!

HEY!!
I have not posted here in forever! I actually don't do much makeup in the summertime because it makes me feel gross, and I'd rather have no makeup than sweaty-melting-off-my-face-makeup. But, the other day at work we had a masquerade themed party and i figured since i didn't have a mask, and i couldnt paint one on (tried, failed, accepted it and moved on), that i'd just do some somewhat "regular" makeup.

okay so i just got the urban decay wallpaper shadow box (my first ud shadows, woo) and the colors are all very pretty but WOW the glitter in some of the shades is pretty crazy. i did a look today and i ended up with silver glitter fallout all over my face when i was done! does anyone have any suggestions on getting the glitter to stick to my eyes a little better? i use loreal decrease as a base, but it didn't seem to help much. tia!
What size of a curling iron would you recommend to get curls like this?

My hair is around the same length as hers except I have layers so it looks like my hair is pretty thin. I was thinking of a 1 1/2 inch barrel but I'm scared it will be too big ><
Also, has anyone purchased from infinityshoes.com before? I want to order a pair of Minnetonka's from them and they are the only site that carries my size and style :(
Thank you for the help :)

I hate my eyebrows, I really wish they could look amazing. When I draw them in with a pencil they're just too thick and chola looking, and when I do it with eyeshadow they just look to bare

JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST MAC EYESHADOW!!!
Posted by
Hey lovelies,
I just bought my very first MAC eyeshadow. Yes, I've bought a pigment before (Old Gold) and I love it, but I thought I'd try out MAC's eyeshadows. I bought "Coppering" and it's really pretty. I can't wait to do a sunset look with it and some pretty fall looks. I usually am an Urban Decay girl, but everyone raves about MAC and I thought I'd cheat on my UD. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any pics of eyeshadow design with Coppering. I'd love to see how you guys utilize it. Thank you dears!!! :-)
